Tom and Lynne have been married over 30 years and now live on the Cheshire / Shropshire borders. Tom from Liverpool and Lynne Southampton they lived in London and on the South Coast until 2009 when they ventured North.
They had both worked in the commercial world, with Tom in Politics and Property Management and Lynne’s experience was in Catering and Learning & Development. A dream for them both was to set up a business and in 2010 Berry Fresh Bakery came into being. The recession was hitting and their Learning & Development Company was suffering as a result and they knew action needed to be taken. As a result Lynne baked cakes and pastries and Tom embarked on making Jam – he had never done so until that point. They visited Farmer’s Markets between Liverpool and Shrewsbury.
Eventually it was clear that whilst the business was growing it was not at a stage to support them both. Lynne now works part time, continues to develop the Training & Development business and supports Tom- whilst Tom (the entrepreneur) has built the Berry Fresh Bakery Brand through his Jams, Chutneys & Marmalades. He now delivers courses on Jam, Chutney and Marmalades at Harthill Cookery School – awarded Best Small Cookery School 2014.
They both love the challenge of changing market places and so far Tom has successfully moved the business forward as a consequence – long may it continue.
